This Woman Ran Wild!

Its finished! This 5k was the best yet, got a chance to run around cute Palm Springs neighborhoods and did it in record time.

5K Time: 39:17

New Mile Personal Best: 12:38

That last quarter mile was pretty intense. My original goal was to finish under 45:00, but once I realized I could finish under 40 minutes I booked it. The last 50 yards was running over grass, as soon as I finished I felt this wave of nausea hit me. I thought I might throw up on the poor guy who was taking off my timing chip. I’m going to take that as a good sign that I pushed myself to my limit which makes the achievement that much sweeter.

This 5k was sponsored by the Klein Clark Sports foundation to raise awareness for breast cancer. Although I have had the good fortune not to have much experience with breast cancer with friends or family I decided to dedicate this run in support of my aunt Chata who has been fighting endometrial cancer for over 20 years. She’s a soft spoken and kind-hearted woman who’s proven herself strong beyond measure again and again with her determination to fight and will to live. She deserves all the praise in the world, she’s an amazing woman.

Still on a runners high, proud of my progress so far. I’m looking forward to the next challenge. Tomorrow I start my 3rd round of Fit in 42. I’ve done the Fit Camp this past week and I’m already seeing results. Starting bright and early at 5:45am I’ll be putting in intense workouts and a pretty strict meal plan. Strict doesn’t have to mean difficult, the last two weekly  meal batches have been pretty delicious so I’m not complaining. I’m getting closer and closer to that golden weight loss goal: 100+ lbs. I’m giving myself a time frame, get there by July. If I get there FANTASTIC, if I don’t I’ll still be better off than I was a year ago. Now I get to think how I’m going to celebrate when I get there!

This is going to be so much fun!
