Instagraming My Meals

They say it takes 21 days to make a habit. I also heard that to become an expert at anything you need to invest 10,000 hours of practice. Right now I feel like it’s taking me 10,000 just to make a habit. But practice makes perfect and I’ve been working on getting a handle on a healthy eating habit. Since I definitely have a phone/instagram habit I incorporated it by taking pictures of my meals. It helps to hold me accountable and since I eat with my eyes my healthy dishes look so much tastier than the junk alternatives.

My meal plan follows a basic formula of protein paired with vegetables, some sort of bean or legume and water.

protein + vegetable + legume + water=good stuff

It sounds simple, even boring, but I’m learning to get creative with ingredients. Discovering new fruit options and spices is becoming fun. I’m getting a routine of cooking the main dish in a batch so every morning I can put into a container and pair it with some veggies to steam. So far it’s working pretty well. I want to incorporate more buts and seeds into the menu so I’m looking into some recipes for hummus, creams, and sauces to add to the mix.

The food looks even better in person but I’ll let the pictures speak and it’s a good reference for me when I need to look back for some ideas.

Until next time.

When you feel tempted to eat the bad stuff, give yourself the chance to try the good things first. Even if you give in to the craving at least you’ve put something healthy in your body. Be good to yourself.
